Making an Appointment

For one-on-one writing assistance, please follow these guidelines:

Step 1: For the main campus, call (323) 415-4147 to make an appointment, preferably one day in advance. For South Gate, sign up at the student center.

Step 2: Upon arrival, check in at the front desk with your student I.D. The first time you come in, you will be asked to fill out an information form. This information is used for statistical purposes only. You may also be given a tutor evaluation form.

Step 3: When you meet your tutor, be sure to have the assignment and all related materials with you. Tell the tutor exactly which area you want to work on during the session. You and the tutor will work together on the assignment. Generally, the tutor will ask you questions that help you develop and focus your thoughts. Remember that we do not proofread or correct your work.

Step 4: After the session, pick up your student I.D.

Step 5: You may want to make a follow up appointment. Also, look at the list of writing workshops being offered to see if any would be useful to you.
