1. Admission Application
Go to the Enrollment Center Located in Building E6, Room 106. Ask for a college application, fill it out, and then return the application along with the requested identification information and documentation. You will be given a registration appointment. You may contact the Enrollment Center at (323) 265-8966 for more information.
Apply Online
The application is also available online through the Los Angeles Community College District’s Student Information (Online application). After your application has been completed you will receive an email with your student ID number, registration appointments, and web links to assessment calendar, sample test questions and other student services.
Required Documentation for Admission
You will need to provide documentation to assist the Enrollment Center staff in the determination of your Residency Status for the fee purposes. Documentation should be dated over one year before the start of the semester to verify California residency:
· Identification: California Driver’s License, Photo Identification Card or passport.
· Social Security Number Verification: SS Card or pay stub. A student’s social security number will be utilized for student identification purposes only. A student ID number can be assigned in lieu of the use of the social security number.
· Permanent Resident Card / Employment Authorization Card or other original documents: If you are not a U.S. Citizen.
· California Resident: If you have lived in California less than two years, submit proof of California residency dated a year prior to the residency determination date.
Parental/High School Consent: If under 18, consent form signed by your parent or legal guardian, along with your high school principal or designee (if concurrently enrolled).
2. Sign Up for Assessment
Students need to sign up at the time of admission to the college for basic placement exams in math and English courses. These are not passing or failing tests. The results will provide guidance and information needed for a successful experience at East Los Angeles College, as well as assistance in selecting classes. Assessment sessions are by appointment only and are located in F5-106 (see map).
Exemptions: Students that have recently taken an assessment test or have completed English and Math classes at another California Community College may be exempted or waived from the assessment aspect of the enrollment process. Assessment results or Transcripts will need to be presented to Admissions in Building E6-103 (see map) along with a “Prerequisite or Corequisite Petition”. The Petition can be obtained from the Admissions office. Assessment results or transcripts will then be evaluated. The students will then receive a letter at home informing them of the English and Math Level that should be taken at East Los Angeles College.
3. Payment of Fees
Fee Waiver: You may wish to visit the Financial Aid Office at C2-3 (see map) to see if you are eligible for a Board of Governors Grant (BOGG), which will pay your enrollment fees. If you qualify for a BOGG, you will be given a “Financial Aid Waiver Card”.
Payment is required to complete enrollment process Failure to pay all fees will result in restrictive holds to be placed on the student’s records.
Payment Option: Go to the Fiscal Office, D-7 Building (see map). Present an I.D. At the Fiscal Office you must pay your fees, or present your Financial Aid Fee Waiver Card. You may pay with cash, check, money order, VISA, MasterCard, or Discover
Your registration process is completed when your fees are paid.
