New federal legislation which goes into effect on January 1, 2007, requires us to give you a new student ID. We cannot use your social security numbers as your student ID. Social security numbers will still be maintained for limited purposes required by state and federal regulations; such as financial aid, research, assessment, and transcripts.
The new student ID is a randomly-generated number with the prefix of “88”. It will be used to identify students transacting business with the college. Students will not be identified by their social security numbers on rosters and most computer screens.
