Denim Day, Wednesday, April 23, 2008
The Violence Intervention Team and the Violence Intervention Center are sponsoring Denim Day on the ELAC campus on Wednesday, April 23rd. In 1998, an Italian Supreme Court decision overturned a rape conviction because the victim wore jeans. Wearing jeans became an international symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. We invite everyone to break the silence that surrounds all forms of sexual violence by wearing jeans on April 23rd. We will be holding events on this day to help raise awareness about sexual violence. For more information, please contact Dr. Tiffany Rice at ricetm@elac.edu or call 323-780-6782.
